Update:

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not hold back on Friday night, using his pregame press conference to condemn the federal government’s response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis.

Speaking at the Chase Center, Kerr said he was glad the Minnesota Timberwolves publicly acknowledged Good’s life, before turning his attention to what he described as a disturbing pattern of official denial.

“It’s shameful, really, that in our country, we can have law enforcement officers who commit murder and seemingly get away with it,” Kerr said. He went further, criticizing the federal government for what he called lies that are contradicted by video footage and eyewitness accounts, material that has circulated widely since the shooting. The video clip referenced alongside Kerr’s remarks shows moments of the encounter that sharply differ from the official explanation.

Kerr described the situation as “demoralizing” and “devastating,” emphasizing the human cost for Good’s family and the wider Minneapolis community. He praised the Timberwolves for recognizing the tragedy rather than ignoring it.

The Warriors coach has long been one of the NBA’s most vocal figures on social and political issues, frequently clashing with rhetoric and policies from the Donald Trump eras. His latest comments add another prominent sports voice to the growing scrutiny surrounding ICE operations and accountability.
