Why isn’t Bronny James playing in the Rising Stars game?
The son of LeBron will not feature in the NBA 2025 Rising Stars game.

Bronny James will not feature in this year’s NBA Rising Stars game for one very simple reason: he does not want to.
The LA Lakers new boy was invited to play in the game that will see plenty of the country’s top young prospects, such as Mac McClung, Leonard Miller, and Pat Spencer, go head-to-head; James instead decided that the match was not for him.
What is Bronny James' record this season?
This season it was decided that perhaps the Lakers was one step too far for Bronny James, who has been getting to grips with things in the G League at the South Bay Lakers.
Despite media and fan clamour for him to team up with his dad every week, taking things slowly has felt like the correct decision; he’s been proving himself to be a valuable asset for the side with solid numbers on the board: 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in the G-League compared to 2.3 minutes, 0.4 points, 0.3 assists, 0.2 total rebounds, 0.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks per NBA game.
However, it’s certainly fair to say that his negative RSVP on the invitation to participate in the Rising Stars game has raised a few eyebrows, with the actual reason behind the rejection as yet unknown.
And it’s not just the Rising Stars game that he’s said no to. Bronny also was set to play in the Skills Challenge alongside LeBron James (who aso declined, but will feature in the All-Star), but we’ll just have to wait another year for that to happen.
