The Dallas Mavericks have a chance to even the NBA Finals after getting blown out by the Celtics in Game 1 on Thursday night in Boston. Tonight they are back at TD Garden looking to rebound but their top rebounder, scorer and assist man is dealing with a multitude of injuries although it appears Luka Doncic will play.

Another injury added to Luka’s list

The Slovenian has been battling injuries all post season but hasn’t missed a game yet, but that could change tonight. A knee sprain and a bummed ankle has hobbled him, but hasn’t hindered his play during the playoffs. Now it appears he is dealing with another injury that could potentially keep him out of tonight’s game.

He was originally listed as probable to play in Game 2, but that status was downgraded to questionable this afternoon as he continues to deal with what doctors are calling a thoracic contusion which is an injury to the chest. According to Study.com “A (thoracic) contusion is an injury to the chest that does not break the skin but leaves bruising or damage to local tissue and blood vessels.

Doncic made his Finals debut on Thursday night and was the only one on his team that looked up to the challenge. He put up 30 points and 10 rebounds in Game 1, and proved once again that no moment is too big for him. He may have posted big stats, but his team struggled and the Mavs would eventually lose by 19.

NBA correspondent Marc Stein reported that Dallas’ top scorer should play tonight despite dealing with a handful of injuries. If Doncic can’t play tonight, it will be up to his teammates to carry the load, Kyrie Irving in particular. Irving had a tough game in the series opener, shooting 6/19 from the field finishing the night with 12 points and three turnovers.
