Cincinnati vs Louisville preview

Cincinnati

It seems the Fenway Bowl will be finally played after the inaugural bowl game was canceled in 2020 and it couldn’t be held in 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Both Cincinnati (9-3) and Louisville (7-5) will pick up their old rivalry thanks to shared conference allegiances in the past, as well as their proximity, with both schools being separated only by 100 miles.

Cincinnati, third in the AAC division, go into the game after winning three of their last four regular season matches, although they tasted defeat against Tulane (27-24).

Kerry Coombs will be in charge of the Bearcats in the game vs. Louisville as interim head coach after Luke Fickell’s departure to Wisconsin. Cincinnati’s offense will be led by Evan Prater, as No. 1 quarterback Ben Bryant is out due to injury.

Louisville

Meanwhile, Louisville lost their last regular season game 26-13 to the Kentucky Wildcats, finishing fourth in the ACC.

Director of player development Deion Branch will be taking the Louisville reigns in the bowl game as a replacement for Scott Satterfield, who left the team to be Cincinnati’s head coach, although he won’t be present in Saturday’s game in Boston.

With quarterback Malik Cunningham -along with top receiver Tyler Hudson- electing to miss the 2022 Fenway Bowl to get ready for the 2023 NFL Draft, Louisville’s aerial attack will be led by Brock Domann.

Cincinnati vs Louisville: prediction

The Bearcats are 30-22-1 in the all-time series against the Cardinals but have suffered overtime defeats in their last two meetings.

However, with this being a rivalry game, both teams will show up and will give their best to come away with the win.

Our pick: Cardinals to win
