49ers TE George Kittle takes to X to share details of late night skirmish: “Without hesitation I arose to combat the intruder”
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle took to social media to tell the story of a battle with a late-night intruder.

It wasn’t a linebacker or pass rusher that George Kittle had to deal with in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, but the San Francisco 49ers star still treated it like game day.
In a humorous post on X, Kittle shared the story of being abruptly awakened at 4 a.m. after his wife, Claire, discovered what he described as a spider “the size of a half dollar” lurking in their bathroom. What followed, according to Kittle, was a swift and decisive response worthy of a play-by-play breakdown.
“At 4 am this morning, as I laid in a deep slumber, I was called to action,” Kittle wrote. “Without hesitation I arose to combat the intruder.”
The three-time All-Pro went on to describe the scene with the same intensity he brings to the field, explaining that his wife handed him a slant board, typically used for rehabilitation purposes, which he quickly repurposed into an unlikely weapon. “I immediately knew the spider had no chance,” he added, noting that it took just one attempt to “strike down” his opponent.

A different kind of offseason highlight
Kittle’s story quickly made the rounds online, with fans embracing the lighthearted glimpse into his life away from football. Known for his personality as much as his physical play, the 49ers tight end leaned fully into the moment, even adding that he was rewarded with “hugs and kisses for my bravery” before returning to sleep.
While Kittle’s early-morning “battle” may not count in the stat sheet, it arrives during a relatively quiet stretch of the NFL calendar, when offseason workouts and personal routines dominate players’ schedules. Moments like this offer a reminder that even some of the league’s toughest competitors are not immune to the smaller challenges of everyday life.
For now, Kittle can add one more victory to his career, this one coming not under stadium lights, but in a bathroom at 4 a.m., with a slant board in hand.
