Aaron Rodgers linked with shock move to replace veteran star
The New York Jets have the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and are looking to move on from the 41-year-old QB.

After spending 18 years with the Green Bay Packers, legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers is now looking at the prospect of a third team in four seasons as he weighs up a move away from the New York Jets.
Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023 but has failed to lead them into the playoffs. Now 41, Rodgers' days with the Jets look numbered and the team announced their intention to part ways earlier this month.
He has remained coy in conversations about his future but has maintained that he plans to play again in 2025. Speaking on his ESPN show, Pat McAfee explained that anything is possible for Rodgers.
“Aaron, from our sources, is currently out of the country,” McAfee said. “When he gets back, possibly next week, will join the program. I did ask about the Rams situation to our sources, ‘open to everything and attached to nothing.’ Big fan of Sean McVay, though. I don’t know what all goes and what doesn’t, but I think right now everyone is trying to figure it out."
Where will Aaron Rodgers go next?
One of the options forwarded this week has been a move to the LA Rams, who may soon be in the hunt for a new QB. Matthew Stafford has two years remaining on his current deal with the Rams but is thought to be looking for an improved deal that increases his salary.
The Guardian is reporting that Stafford wants a new two-year deal worth around $110 million, putting him up towards the $60 million annual figure that Dak Prescott will earn at the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Las Vegas Raiders have founded “common ground” with Stafford and could be a viable landing spot.
If Stafford decides to depart, the Rams will have a spot open for an experienced quarterback to help tide them over while a new QB is groomed. Rodgers could fit the bill for the Rams and allow him one final shot at making the postseason as he approaches the end of a stellar NFL career.
