Aaron Rodgers to miss the rest of the 2023 NFL season with an Achilles injury
The Jets’ quarterback’s season abruptly ended due to a surprise injury during the game against the Bills. How did Rodgers sustain the injury?
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is set to sit out the remainder of the 2023 NFL season due to a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon, as confirmed by multiple sources.
Zach Wilson stepped in and guided the team to a thrilling 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday. The game was sealed when undrafted rookie wide receiver Xavier Gipson returned a punt 65 yards for a walk-off touchdown.
For the time being, Wilson takes the reins, though that situation may evolve.
What happened to Aaron Rodgers?
Rodgers, a four-time Most Valuable Player, endured the injury during his Jets debut on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. The injury happened when Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers.
Following the incident, the 39-year-old initially tried to stand but quickly returned to the ground. Jets medical staff attended to him on the field at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Subsequently, Rodgers was examined in the medical tent on the sidelines before being transported to the locker room via cart. This unfortunate event resulted in his absence for the remainder of the game, and now for the remainder of the season.
