Can Davante Adams convince Tom Brady to unretire again and join the Las Vegas Raiders?

It’s been more than a year since Tom Brady retired from the NFL for a second time, but a certain Raiders receiver is still hoping to play with the legendary QB.

Though it’s almost certainly nothing more than banter, the prospect of one of the best receivers in the modern era linking up with the quarterback many consider to be the greatest in history is certainly a tasty treat of an idea to consider.

Davante Adams wants Tom Brady to unretire

Earlier this week Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams made an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, and while there Adams was asked about rumors surrounding his trade availability. While there was an allusion to a reunion with Aaron Rodgers - the pair played together with the Green Bay Packers - Adams turned heads when he spoke of another iconic quarterback: Tom Brady. Indeed, the 31-year-old pass-catcher told Sharpe directly that he’d like to convince Tom Brady to unretire and join him in Las Vegas.

“Hell yes,” Adams said with a laugh when asked about the former New England Patriots star. “You gonna talk about how old he is. I don’t care. I don’t care. ...I think I’d be the first person to play with Tom and Aaron [Rodgers]. So that’d be pretty cool. He’s gotta still be able to throw it better than half these dudes in the league.” Pressing the point, Adams insisted that he’d be ready to play with Brady even if he were “58″ - he is set to turn 47 in August.

Now, while it’s clearly tongue-in-cheek conversation, it’s worth noting that Brady has for the last year been advancing in his efforts to purchase a minority stake in the Raiders, meaning he has a direct link to the team that Adamas currently plays for, a fact that we imagine is part of the reason the receiver even mentioned the idea. Then, there is the fact that Brady himself hinted at yet another comeback earlier this year, even mentioning the Raiders themselves.

On the other hand, he has since gone on to speak more openly about his commitment to his upcoming job in broadcasting with Fox Sports. The point here is, there are a few reasons to keep an eye on this situation. That said, we’ve got to look at the facts rather than speculate. Brady remains retired, Aaron Rodgers is in New York, and Adams is on the Raiders’ roster and we’ve seen nothing to suggest that will change. So, as we always say: Watch this space.
