Did rookies pay for a $322,000 dinner as part of their initiation into the San Francisco 49ers?
Niners defensive tackle Arik Armstead came out to clarify that it had all been a joke and that the rookies did not pay $322,000 as stated on social media.

A few days ago, a video circulated on social networks showing the dinner bill that rookie players of the San Francisco 49ers supposedly had to pay as a way of being ‘welcomed’ to the team.
The reactions of the rookies showed that they were completely shocked, since the sum of the dishes that the veteran players had consumed amounted to $322,000.

All part of a prank
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead had to clarify that they had not been abusive to their younger colleagues, as it had all been a joke.
The defensive linemen of the 49ers conspired with the managers and servers of the place to slightly exaggerate the cost of the dishes they had ordered.
Food items included an eight-ounce cut of Kobe beef, a porterhouse, multiple orders of salmon and mushroom stir-fry, among other dishes. The account indicated a total consumption of $322,391.05.
Y’all silly if you thought a dinner can cost 300k . It was a prank. The waitress went overboard . The dinner was 7500 me and 2 other vets gave 1k towards it . The rooks split 4500. We had a great time too. I had good vets as a young player I would never do a rookie like that .

Some veterans chipped in
Tight end Arik Armstead clarified everything after the controversy and claims generated on social networks, stating that in reality about $7,500 had been spent, of which he and two other players had each paid $1,000. So the rookies had only divided the $4,500 that was remaining on the bill.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that Armstead’s gesture was a nice touch.
“It was good of Arik.... A lot of guys might not be nice... and Arik was a lot more mature than that... and thank God, because some guys can be ridiculous about that,” said Shanahan. .
This defense is different 😤
