Giants’ legendary LB Lawrence Taylor on his NFL Draft Day: “I don’t remember too much, I had 41 Coors Lights”
“LT” was a force to reckon with in the 1980s. One of the NFL’s top linebackers and pass rushers, No. 56 was a menace to opposing QBs and to cans of Coors Light, it appears

Flashback to 2010, Lawrence Taylor explains to a reporter at the 75th NFL Draft about his (lack of) memories of when he was drafted in 1981. Such honesty and candor is hard to come by these days unless you are John Daly, but there’s no days like the old days and we can sit back and enjoy Taylor’s story of the day he was drafted. When he was asked what he remembers, the tells the reporter what happened:
“I don’t remember much, I had 41 Coors Lights so I couldn’t tell you,” he told the journalist. The Pro-Bowl linebacker explained it was different back then, almost 45 years ago as we approach the 2025 NFL Draft Day. “It was an exciting time. It wasn’t like this. It was old school. I wasn’t in New York or anything. I just caught it on TV like everyone else.”
The reporter didn’t back down and tried to get some information from No. 56, but he couldn’t remember much, just who he shared the moment with, “I had my drinking buddies with me,” he said.

Times have changed and LT would probably get in a lot of trouble for saying that now. The Giant’s legendary linebacker did get in some trouble after his playing days, but in 2010 he laid it on the line and said it like it was after an incredible career in New York and an induction into the Football Hall of Fame.
