Importance of women in the NFL

In an interview with the news agency EFE, Terése Whitehead, vice president of strategy for the NFLPA, explained the value of women in the NFL.

“Women have added so much value to the NFL by bringing a different perspective that helps us think differently, especially because of the roles they play in the league today,” Whitehead said.

The vice president also declared that women have always been part of the league, but now they have taken on a different role by occupying spaces among the coaches. In 2022 there will be three female officers: Sarah Thomas, Maria Chaka and Robin DeLorenzo.

The women who own NFL teams are Gayle Benson of the New Orleans Saints, Kim Pegula of the Bills, Virginia Halas McCaskey of the Chicago Bears, Amy Adams Strunk of the Titans, and Sheila Firestone Ford of the Detroit Lions.

Women have always participated in the sports industry, but in very different roles than the ones they are achieving now. It has been impressive to see so many women as presidents, executives, owners, coaches and officers,” said Whitehead.
