Is former Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins selling himself to NFL teams on Twitter?
As he continues to search for a new team, the former Cardinals star who is now a free agent has taken a slightly different approach to marketing his services.
Though it’s clear that one’s value tends to depreciate with age in professional sports, it’s still hard to believe that one of the league’s best wide receivers in recent memory can’t find a team to play for in free agency.

In any marketplace, it takes some creativity to separate yourself from the competition and it seems that’s something former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins clearly understands. The 31-year-old is currently on the hunt for a new team to play for, after being cut by the Cardinals last month, and it appears he’s going about his search in an innovative way. Indeed, Hopkins has now taken to Twitter in an attempt to sell himself to potential teams in need of a pass catcher, promising his possible future teammates an easier ride. “Whoever’s in my future wide receiver group. I promise I will make your job easy,” Hopkins tweeted.
What’s the current situation with DeAndre Hopkins?
As mentioned above, the Cardinals released Hopkins last month. What that means is that’s now a free agent and can sign and play with any team immediately. So far, we know that he’s visited with the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots, but neither of those meetings ended with a deal in place. Most recently and he is now a free agent and able to sign with any team immediately. Hopkins visited with the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots but left both places without a deal. There were also rumblings out of Cleveland, where former teammate and current Browns QB, Deshaun Watson, stated that he’d like a reunion with Hopkins, but again nothing concrete materialized.
So, what next for DeAndre Hopkins?
At this point, we’re not sure. What we do know is that Hopkins is a five-time Pro Bowler who is widely considered one of the best wide receivers of his generation. Last season he was hindered by injuries but still managed to finish the 2022-23 campaign with 64 catches to the tune of 717 yards and three touchdowns, which was good enough to lead the Cardinals in receiving yards and place him at second on the league list for receiving touchdowns behind Zach Ertz. Ultimately, it would be a fair assessment to say that he’s not the player he once was. On the other hand, it would be unfair to say he isn’t still very good at what he does.
