Nick Sirianni drops huge Jalen Hurts news before Packers vs Eagles NFL Wild Card game
Eagles quarterback Hurts has been in concussion protocol since exiting the Week 16 matchup against the Washington Commanders, missing the last two games.
Jalen Hurts was the Philadelphia Eagles’ key performer as they reached Super Bowl LVII in 2023, which they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Nick Sirianni’s team will hope he can again be the difference maker when the 2025 NFL Playoffs get underway, although they have been sweating over his availability for the Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers.
Will Jalen Hurts play for the Eagles against the Packers in the Wild Card round?
A little over 48 hours before Sunday’s game, Sirianni revealed the news every Eagles fan wanted to hear: Hurts has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and is available to play in the first game of the postseason.
The 26-year-old hasn’t featured for the Eagles since Week 16 matchup against the Washington Commanders, when he was forced to exit the game late in the first half after taking a hit while attempting a third-and-goal play. It was suspected Hurts had suffered a concussion, and so it proved.
The quarterback has been in the concussion protocol ever since, until now. That has seen him miss Week 17 thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys, and the Week 18 victory over the New York Giants, although he may well have been rested for that game anyway, with nothing on the line.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Sirianni revealed Hurts had finally cleared the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol, clearing the path for him to return in time to face the Packers.
Packers vs Eagles Wild card playoff game: date, time, how to watch
The game between the Packers and Eagles will be played on Sunday, January 12, with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. ET. Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will host the Wild Card matchup due to the Eagles (14-3) being the NFC’s No. 2 seed behind the Detroit Lions after winning the NFC East.
The Packers finished third in the ultra-competitive NFC North despite an 11-6 record, which would have been enough for them to win the NFC South and West.
The game between the Packers and the Eagles will be shown on FOX in the United States, while you can also live stream the game on FuboTV, which offers new users a free trial.
