Update:

It didn’t take long for Patrick Mahomes to break his silence after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs’ No. 15 took to social media to send a message to his fans.

“Appreciate all the love and support from Chiefs Kingdom. I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it. Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me.

“We will be back,” Mahomes wrote.

It was undoubtedly a tough night for Kansas City and their quarterback, who not only threw two interceptions but was also sacked six times, including a fumble recovered by the Eagles' defense.

“Whenever you lose the Super Bowl, it’s the worst feeling in the world. It stays with you for the rest of your career… probably even more than the wins make you feel good,” he said in his post-game press conference.

Mahomes admitted that his mistakes ultimately cost the Chiefs their bid for a third straight championship. “Obviously, the two interceptions ended up being costly, and I take the blame for that. I basically gave them 13 points. I have to play better next time.”

Mahomes' numbers in Super Bowl LIX

Despite Mahomes' stats being inflated late in the game by two touchdown passes, the reality is that it was a nightmare performance for Kansas City’s star quarterback.

Mahomes threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Xavier Worthy, who finished the game with 157 yards—numbers that ultimately meant little in the end.

The first half was an absolute disaster for the Chiefs. They went into halftime scoreless, managing just 33 passing yards, along with two interceptions, including a pick-six by Cooper DeJean.
