Update:

The Kansas City Chiefs are out to make history by becoming the first NFL team to win three successive championships against the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. But the big question, of course, is whether Peyton or Eli Manning will come out on top in FanFuel’s “Kick of Destiny 3,” which takes place earlier on Sunday (February 9).

Eli Manning’s Super Bowl kicking “dream”

The Mannings set the scene for the pre-Super Bowl event in different, equally amusing trailers released several weeks ago.

The general theme of the sketches is Eli’s dream of being a kicker when he was a boy, scuppered by Peyton forcing him to follow in his big brother’s footsteps by becoming a quarterback.

Eli, 44, will now get the chance to go up against Peyton, 48, in a field goal competition which will be broadcast at 3:00 p.m. ET on Super Bowl Sunday on Fox.

“Kick of Destiny 3″ rules explained

As explained by FanDuel, both kickers will start by attempting a 25-yard field goal each, which may be enough to decide the winner.

If the first kicker makes, the second must also make to tie and extend the competition.

If the first kicker misses, the second kicker can win by making his first kick.

If both kickers miss, they will move forward five yards for their next effort.

There will be a maximum of three rounds, with the above rules in play for each of them. If no winner is decided by the end of the three rounds, the kicker who kicks the ball closest to target in the middle of the net in the third round will win the tiebreaker.

If kicking a 25-yard field goal sounds like it should be easy for two former NFL professionals, even if they were quarterbacks rather than kickers, check out ex-New England Patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski’s attempt in last year’s “Kick of Destiny”.

Peyton and Eli Manning’s Super Bowl records

The Mannings are, of course, no strangers to Super Bowl Sunday. Peyton won Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts and 50 with the Denver Broncos nine years later. Eli, meanwhile, was the winning quarterback at Super Bowls XLII and XLVI with the New York Giants.
