Quarterback competition in Cleveland: This is the first Browns’ QB to get cut “I think he’s the first guy out”
Kenny Pickett’s time at the Browns could well be over.

Former first-round pick Kenny Pickett has been sounded out as a potential departure for the Cleveland Browns ahead of their mandatory minicamp preparations before the season.
Such a change would come as a shock as Pickett only arrived in March of this year; just months on he is a trade candidate.
The 27-year-old arrived from Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

‘I think they’re going to trade Kenny Pickett’
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk explained the rumoured decision: “I think they’re going to trade Kenny Pickett. I haven’t been told anything, I don’t know anything, I never know anything. But just reading between the tea leaves, as a wise man says, Joe Flacco is the fan favourite.”
The Browns are stacked for quarterbacks at the time of writing, with all of Joe Flacco, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel on the roster; as such, it seems Pickett is the man singled out for transfer.
“They’re not going to get rid of Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. They want to see which one of those guys can become the long-term guy. Pickett was the insurance policy they traded for early on. I think he’s the first guy out.”
Pickett's Eagles stats:
Games played / started: 30 / 25
Passing:
471 completions on 755 attempts (62.4%)
4,765 yards
15 touchdowns, 14 interceptions
Rushing:
106 carries, 306 yards (2.9 avg)
5 rushing touchdowns

Zac Johnson of The Athletic agreed, although he did give a hint of hope for Pickett at the Brownss: “Joe Flacco, an 18-year veteran who’s played under Stefanski before, should be well ahead of rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders,” he wrote. “Flacco is probably ahead of Kenny Pickett, too. Flacco throws the ball in a practice setting better than any of them. Add his overall experience, and he’s the favorite to win the job, unless Stefanski and others in the organization just favor Pickett — or unless Pickett outplays Flacco in the coming months.”
