On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Houston Texans 23-14 in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. They will now move on to the AFC Conference Championship game for the seventh consecutive season.

During the game, Patrick Mahomes put up 177 passing yards and one touchdown pass. It’s no surprise that the receiver on the other end of those passes the majority of the time was tight end Travis Kelce, Mahomes' favorite target.

Travis Kelce breaks NFL playoff record with Divisional win

With girlfriend Taylor Swift watching from her suite, Kelce put up a record performance in the Chiefs' seventh straight Divisional postseason win. He brought in seven of eight targets for 117 yards and one touchdown.

With that performance, Kelce broke a tie with San Francisco 49ers legend, wide receiver Jerry Rice, for the most 100-yard receiving games in playoff history.

Kelce caught a pass for 49 yards during the game, but it was an 18-yard catch that put him over Rice in the history books. This made his ninth career 100-yard game in the postseason, where he and Rice were previously tied with eight.

Interestingly, Kelce broke a record of Rice’s last season as well. Kelce, since then, holds the record for most receptions in NFL playoff history. After their win over the Texans, Kelce now has 172 career playoff receptions to Rice’s 151. He’s catching up to him in other areas as well. Rice has 2,245 playoff yards and Kelce has 2,020. Rice has 22 playoff touchdowns. Kelce has 20.

Kelce and the Chiefs will play in the AFC Conference final next weekend to face either the Buffalo Bills or the Baltimore Ravens on their journey to become the first NFL team with three back-to-back Super Bowl wins.
