Top rumors coming out of the NFL Combine, according to Rich Eisen
The NFL Combine came to an end on Sunday and there were a couple players who shined in Indy, but Rich Eisen in the one with the inside scoop.

We got our first look at the NFL Draft class during the Combine from Indianapolis, and now both teams and players are getting ready for the selection show coming up at the end of April. The Combine is a supped up water cooler setting for NFL scouts and front office people and NFL Network’s Rich Eisen had a front row seat to both the show and the behind the scenes chatter.
Eisen’s inside scoop
Eisen isn’t just the voice of the combine. He doesn’t just run the 40 yard dash every year for charity. He is also a journalist, and one of the faces of the NFL Network. When he goes to the Combine, people talk. And he listens. He isn’t in the business of breaking news anymore, especially when it’s speculation, but he did report the hottest rumors he heard on his The Rich Eisen Show on Monday morning.
He did preface these rumors with a reminder that some of last year’s rumors didn’t happen, or didn’t happen when he was told they would. A couple of those rumors that didn’t hit included Trey Lance being signed by the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants moving on from Daniel Jones. Lance was a back up in Dallas last year, and Jones started Week 1 for the Giants before eventually letting him go.
Among the biggest rumors that came out of the Combine centered around the Cowboys and their future plans, the Vikings plan with Sam Darnold, where Daniel Jones could be going, Matthew Stafford’s potential suitors before he got a deal in LA and Cleveland’s strong stance on Myles Garrett.
Cowboys are all-out on many of their free agents.
The Cowboys are coming off of a dreadful season in which Jerry Jones said they were going “all-in.” After a year full of disappointment, injuries and underachieving Jones is seemingly very interested in cleaning house. Dallas have a long list of free agents, most notably Demarcus Ware, Brandin Cooks and Trey Lance and apparently a lot of free agents won’t be coming back.
Vikings will sign Sam Darnold, and for more than one year
Minnesota were among the best teams in the league for a large part of the year. Sam Darnold was a big part of their success. He had a resurgent year after spending his career as a journeyman around the NFL. The Vikings eventually crumbled in the final game of the regular season, conceding the one seed in the NFC, and losing in the first round of the playoffs. Darnold was a big part of their downfall. After two horrid games, it was unclear if the Vikes would want to keep him around, but word around the Combine is he is sticking around, and not just for a year.
Daniel Jones could be going to Indianapolis
The former Giants QB spent the last half decade in New York getting battered and bruised. He got a contact extension a few years ago, but the Giants cut ties with him last year after another year filled with disappointment and a lack luster offense. Jones was signed by the Vikings for the final few weeks of the season, but now rumor has it that Jones might go to Indy and could be competing with Anthony Richardson for the starting job in Indianapolis.
Raiders and Giants ad really interest in Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford looked like he was on his way out of Los Angeles after the Rams gave him permission to look for a new team. Two teams came chasing after the Super Bowl champ, and those two teams were come of the worst in the league last year. The Raiders are said to have matched the number that Stafford was demanding, but in the end the Rams and their franchise QB came to an agreement on Friday.
Cleveland have zero interest in trading Myles Garrett
The Browns have already stated they have no intention of trading away Myles Garrett, despite the former Defensive Player of the Year formally asking for a trade and writing what seemed to be a farewell note to Cleveland on social media. Garrett is intent on getting out of Cleveland as approach a rebuilding phase, but the Browns are seemingly uninterested in hearing any offers, because according to Eise, they do not want to trade him under any circumstances.
