Trevon Diggs gets Packers fans excited with recent comments
The Green Bay Packers cornerback has fans excited after recent revelations on his readiness.
The Packers were the first to jump as news of Trevon Diggs’ availability swept through the NFL like floodwater. The two-time Pro Bowler was taken off waivers on Wednesday 31 December and landed in Wisconsin arms right after both Nate Hobbs and Kamal Hadden were ruled out with injuries.
ESPN write that the decision from the Dallas Cowboys to let him go was "for a variety of reasons, including not limited to skipping a team flight home from Dallas’ most recent game."
“It was a culmination of multiple factors,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “Performance, other elements. He’s been an incredible player for this organization, and I really do, I truly do like Trevon a lot, I wish him nothing but the best and I’m excited to see where he lands and watch him continue his career.”
How much did the Packers pay to sign Diggs?
The case is a curious one. As Diggs was claimed off waivers, the Packers simply took on the remainder of his five-year, $97 million contract that was signed in 2023. However, given the fact that the deal in question has no remaining guaranteed money, the executives were able to strike the deal without without any salary cap consequences after the current season.
As such, the move has cost the Packers ‘only’ one week’s pay, $472,000, plus another $58,823 if Diggs is indeed active for Sunday’s regular-season game against the Minnesota Vikings.
As for whether or not he’s ready to play in the season finale, Diggs said yes. “It meant a lot that they believe in me, like I believe in myself,” he added after his unequivocal response regarding his availability. “So, I’m ready to show what I can do.”
“It feels good,” he added. “I want to be comfortable, be comfortable being somewhere that I’ve never been before, starting over, starting fresh, a clean state. Keeping my head down and just working.”
Despite the fact that Diggs has featured in just eight games this season due to a concussion and various knee issues, he was match fit for the Cowboys’ most recent pair of games, against Washington on Christmas Day, and against the Los Angeles Chargers on 21 December.

“I feel like I can excel in any system,” Diggs admitted. “As long as the proper coaching is there, getting good coaching, you can learn anything, any system. I feel like that has helped me to have different coordinators. I’ve learned a different systems, learning different things from everyone. I’m ready. I’m ready to adjust and ready to get to work.”
