What helmet is Romeo Doubs wearing for the Packers? NFL Playoffs Wild Card
The Green Bay Packers wide receiver has caught the eye with his reinforced headgear.

The Green Bay Packers will take on the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, battling for a place in the NFL Divisional Round.
If the Packers are eliminated, Saturday’s game could be the final outing for Green Bay receiver Romeo Doubs. The 25-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and he looks set to enter free agency for the first time in his career.
Across four seasons in the NFL, Doubs has put up solid numbers, with 53 games, 186 receptions and 20 touchdowns to his name. On the field, Doubs is known for his unusual, extra-large helmet.

What is Romeo Doubs’ helmet?
Fans tuning in for the Packers-Bears clash will notice that Doubs’ helmet looks bigger, and more padded, than those of his teammates.
Doubs is one of a number of NFL players that have turned to a Guardian Cap to offer additional protection against head injuries. The cap is a soft-shell cover that is fitted over the regular helmet in a bid to reduce the risk of injury.
Doubs began using the Guardian Cap after suffering a concussion in a game against the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. Wearing the cap in his first game back after two weeks in concussion protocol, Doubs scored two receiving touchdowns.
His Packers teammate Savion Williams also wears a Guardian Cap and the rookie has his own history of head injury. After being drafted by the Packers last summer he suffered a concussion and was sidelined for part of the team’s training camp.
Currently, around a dozen players across the NFL wear Guardian Caps but that number is rising. The additional protective layer was introduced for team practice in 2020 and has only been allowed for game use since 2024.
