Chiefs vs Ravens. Mahomes vs Jackson. Reid vs Harbaugh. Barbecue vs The poem that became The Star Spangled Banner. Whatever side you’re on, you can’t deny that the upcoming AFC Championship game (Sunday January 28, 3:00 p.m. ET 12:00 p.m. PT.) has a particular flavour to it, with both sides on the verge of doing something sensational this season.

The Chiefs welcome the Ravens as they fly into Arrowhead Stadium, and the historical record between these two sides certainly suggests that we’ve got a fantastic fixture on our hands for you to enjoy. Both the NFC and AFC Conference Championship games will be live on AS USA for you to follow as the action unfolds.

When did the Chiefs last play against the Ravens?

The last time these two sides butted heads in the NFL was back in 2021, and if the game then was anything to go by, then the AFC Championship tie that we’ve got coming is going to be a cracker.

Last time out, the two sides could only be separated by a single point at M&T Bank Stadium, with the Ravens squawking past their rivals 36-35. Over 70,000 fans turned up to see the Kansas City Chiefs go ahead 14-7 in the first quarter before the Ravens pulled it back with a 7-10 scoreline at the halfway point (check out the ticket prices for the game on Sunday).

The Chiefs fought back, winning the third quarter 14-7 again and look set to reach the finish line with the win nestled in their pocket. However, a fantastically spectacular crumbling of the Chiefs’ attack saw the Ravens win by a whopping scoreline of 0-12 to put them one point ahead of their opponents and ultimately fumbling the lead at the very last.

What is the Chiefs’ record against the Ravens?

Overall, the record between the two sides stretches all the way back to 1999, when summers were longer and policemen were taller. It took four attempts at the fixture for the Ravens to get a win, but over the last decade or so, it has been the Chiefs with the advantage.

After 11 matches played between the two sides, the Chiefs come out with a 7-5 record against the Ravens, having beaten them almost double the amount of times over the years. With most of the games coming in the regular season, the Chiefs and Ravens have met once in the playoffs, in the 2010 Wild Card Round in which the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a 7-30 loss.

The record throughout history suggests that the Chiefs can once again claim a victory in the the AFC Conference Championship game, but with the home form the Ravens have shown until now, the contest is closer than ever.
