Which countries will host an international NFL game in 2025?
The NFL officially added Berlin to the list of international cities that will host a game in the 2025-26 season. It’s one of several others in the series.
The NFL’s international series continues to expand as they look to potentially play up to eight games in other countries in the 2025-26 season.
The league announced on Wednesday that Berlin will be one of the host cities for an international NFL game next year. There have now been games in Munich and Frankfurt, but this will be the first regular season game to be hosted in Germany’s capital city.
What other countries will host an NFL game in 2025?
In addition to Berlin, Germany, the NFL will be hosting a game in Madrid, Spain for the first time ever in 2025. The league also expects to return to Brazil (where they played for the first time this season), Mexico City, and England, and potentially even Ireland.
The committed international NFL games for the season so far are these:
Olympic Stadium in Berlin has actually hosted NFL games before, but never a regular season game. In 1990, a preseason game was held there, and from 1990-1994, the NFL played four American Bowl games there.
If they add a game in Ireland in 2025, a potential site for the game could be either Dublin’s Aviva Stadium or Croke Park, where the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears played a preseason game in 1997 (the league’s only game in Ireland) with an estimated 25,000 fans in attendance.
“We will certainly be back in the UK and we’re also looking at the potential of another game in the UK area, in Ireland possibly. That’s a possibility,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
In the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the NFL played five international games. They introduced a country from South America (Brazil) for the first time this season, and someday could even play games as far away as Australia. They have now hosted 55 regular season games outside of the United States - in London, Munich, Frankfurt, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, and Toronto.
The rest of the international host cities as well as the dates and teams playing will be announced at a later date.
