Who was arrested for the 2024 Kansas City parade shooting and how many victims were there?

Unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself whether we learn from it or not. One year ago today, there was a shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade.

Update:

As the Philadelphia Eagles celebrate their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs this Valentine’s Day, we were unfortunately reminded of the tragedy that occurred one year ago today during the Chiefs' Super Bowl parade.

What we know so far about the shooting at the Eagles parade isn’t much - just that at least two people have been shot in Philadelphia’s Spring Garden neighborhood. Here’s what ended up happening a year ago...

The shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs 2024 Super Bowl parade

On February 14, 2024, 33 people were wounded in a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII parade in Kansas City, Missouri. One person, Lisa Lopez Galvan, a Tejano DJ for local radio station KKFI, was killed from a gunshot. She died at the scene.

22 more people were wounded by gunshots, including 11 children between ages six and 15 years old. 18 other victims arrived at local hospitals in the following hours with non-gunshot-related injuries. Many had injuries from the ricochet of the bullets and from being trampled in the crowds.

The shooting occurred just after the parade rally, around 2 p.m. The Chiefs players and staff were inside at Union Station and sheltered in place. None were injured.

Three juveniles, two of whom were armed, were detained initially, but one was later released after it was determined that they were not involved. The other two were charged with gun-related crimes and resisting arrest.

Two adult men were later arrested in connection with the shooting and were charged with second-degree murder. In March, three adults were charged in connection with guns used in the shooting. They were charged with false statements, straw purchases of firearms, and firearms trafficking. One of the suspects, Dominic Miller, was indicted on four felony charges. An autopsy confirmed that the bullet that killed Lisa Lopez Galvan came from the gun that belonged to Miller.

The Kansas City Police said that the shooting was a result of a “dispute between several people” and that there was no indication that it was an act of terror.

The shooting in Philadelphia is still being investigated and AS USA will bring the updates as soon as we have more information.
