To be fair, if we consider the kind of chaos we’ve witnessed in the past when it comes to fans celebrating or lamenting their team’s efforts, you can’t blame them.

According to recent reports, the Philadelphia police are greasing poles around the city. While that in itself may seem like a rather strange thing to read, the reality is all safety measures are on the table when you’ve got a game as big as the NFC Championship about to occur. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers in the title decider for the NFC and more importantly, the game that will determine who gets a trip to Super Bowl LVII. With that in mind, police are understandably taking all precautions to ensure public safety, in the event that there should be a massive party to celebrate an Eagles win.
One such precaution, involves the greasing of light poles around the metropolitan area, in an effort to prevent people from climbing them in celebration. If you didn’t know, Eagles fans have a history of climbing poles following big wins and as you can imagine, a fall from such a height would definitely put a different spin on the evening’s proceedings. Biodegradable, the fluid is considered environmentally friendly and doesn’t appear to cause any irritation that would be worth writing home about, when it comes into contact with human skin.
