Will Dak Prescott start as Dallas Cowboys quarterback against the Detroit Lions in Week 7?
After participating in practices on Wednesday and Thursday, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott assured that he will work on his body to avoid any setbacks.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been medically cleared for action after being out for five weeks due to a broken right thumb he suffered in their Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and aims to take back the place that backup QB Cooper Rush held during his absence.
When asked if he would start against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Prescott said, “I am,” in confirmation. “I think, anyways,” he added jokingly.
Prescott won’t wear extra protection for his thumb
The 29-year-old added that he will take care of his body to avoid any setbacks. The quarterback made it clear that he won’t be wearing any extra splints or protection during the game, as he only plans to wear tape with comfort in mind.
"I'm still going to do a few things to make sure things don't blow up or something unexpected happens," Prescott explained. "I'm not going to act like I didn't break a bone a few weeks ago."
Hand feels good
Prescott sustained the injury on Sept. 11 and went into surgery the next day to make sure he could recover and return to the field as soon as possible. This process has been satisfactory to the quarterback and ensures that the hand feels good.
“For the most part, I’m healthy, it feels good,” Prescott said. “I can catch the ball, it feels comfortable in my hand. My grip is great. Honestly, I’m putting it behind me and focusing on the game plan and doing the best I can.”
