2022 President’s Cup: Who is Patrick Cantlay’s Fiancée Nikki Guidish?
As the Tour looks to gain any foothold that it can, the focus has now turned to the wives and girlfriends of golfers and their marketability.
The war between the PGA and LIV Golf is as intense as ever and moreover, is now being fought through the wives and girlfriends of varying golfers. With that in mind we take a look at who one of them is.
The PGA has turned to WAGS in response to LIV Golf
As we now know, the LIV Tour has been actively recruiting golf power couples in an effort to raise the profile of its brand, having recently come to the market. Not to be outdone, the PGA has apparently followed suit. Couples such as Brooks Koepka and his wife Jena Sims have inadvertently become the PGA’s vehicles for marketing to a younger, pop culture-oriented audience. With that in mind, we’ve now got a new pair on the block and that’s Patrick Cantlay and his fiancée Nikki Guidish. Indeed, the newly engaged couple were in North Carolina this week for the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow. While enjoying the Team USA party, the pair were seen with fellow power couples Collin Morikawa and his fiancée, Katherine Zhu, along with Xander Schauffele and his wife, Maya. The legendary Fred Couples was also in attendance with his lovely wife Suzanne Hannemann.
While it may seem trivial, make no mistake there is much to be won and lost here for the PGA Tour, as it attempts to keep pace with the Saudi backed league. Cantlay and Guidish appear to be the perfect candidates where showcasing the off-course lives of golfers and their partners are concerned. Indeed, Guidish herself looked right at home as she posed alongside the aforementioned Maya Schauffele and former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
Who is Nikki Guidish?
While the likes of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth appear to enjoy keeping their relationship out of the spotlight, Guidish appears fully prepared to become the new face of the wives and girlfriend club while Cantlay is currently ranked No. 4 in the world. A 30-year-old pharmacist, Guidish also clearly understands the media game. An active Instagram user, Guidish has given the PGA a leg up in its attempt to hold on to its remaining market share.
Between her photoshoots for fitness magazines and her apparent darling status in the eyes of other golfer’s wives like Jena Sims, it’s clear that Guidish has the kind of marketing pull that the PGA is looking for. At this point, one can only hope that her husband-to-be will maintain the level of performance that goes along with being used as the the Tour’s showpiece couple.
