Alcaraz will prepare for the Australian Open by playing against De Miñaur and Ruud

The two-time major champion is making his final preparations alongside his team to get ready for the first Grand Slam event of the season.

Update:
The two-time major champion is making his final preparations alongside his team to get ready for the first Grand Slam event of the season.

The first Grand Slam tournament of the new season, the Australian Open, is edging closer and one of the main candidates to go all the way in Melbourne is getting ready alongside his team.

The 20-year-old talent missed the tournament in 2023 due to injury, so he will be very motivated to try to win the third major of his career.

Alcaraz is aware he has the potential to win more Grand Slam events but also that he needs to be mentally strong to keep making history.

His body will also be a key factor, as his aggressive and intense style of play may translate into injuries again. This year, he has preferred to skip the previous tournaments to the Australian Open and follow a training plan with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Two exhibition matches against De Miñaur and Ruud

However, Carlitos will be back in action before the start of the Australian Open, as it could be important in his preparation plan to get some competition rhythm against top players.

Alcaraz will face Alex de Miñaur, who recently defeated Novak Djokovic in the United Cup, and Casper Ruud in exhibition matches.

The current Wimbledon champion will take on the Aussie on Wednesday 10, while he will face the 2022 US Open finalist on Friday 12.

Both De Miñaur and Ruud have been playing consistently over the last days so it will be a good way for Carlos to measure where he’s at when he plays against them.

Besides Alcaraz, the fans’ attention will also be on the return of his fellow countryman Rafa Nadal to the Australian Open, and on some of the biggest candidates for the title, like Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune.
