Australian Open 2024: What is Coco Gauff’s record against Aryna Sabalenka?
Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka are both playing outstanding tennis in Melbourne, but this isn’t the first clash between these two sizzling stars.
In a highly-anticipated replay of the US Open final, Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka square off in the 2024 Australian Open semi-final.
The American teenager has managed so far to get away with a ton of mistakes, something that she can ill afford against Sabalenka.
The Belarusian on the other hand has been exquisite so far in Melbourne, thrashing every opponent placed in her path.
Apart from the US Open, these two have met several times and historically, it is Gauff who has the upper hand, winning four of their six previous matches.
The first time they met was in 2020 in Lexington, when the teenager was still unranked, and she stunned Sabalenka, who was at the time ranked number two. In Ostrava that same year, Sabalenka evened the score in a tightly-contested win.
Gauff then beat Sabalenka again in Rome in 2021 and Toronto in 2022, before losing in straight sets in Indian Wells in 2023. The US Open saw Gauff win a thrilling final.
Here are all of their previous meetings.
