Update:

The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) signed, via SIGA LATIN AMERICA, a technical cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Sport with the objective of preventing and combating match-fixing and other harmful practices affecting Sport Integrity.

The agreement, signed by Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Chairman and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA & Global CEO of SIGA, and André Fufuca, Minister of Sport, reinforces Brazil’s proactive regulatory approach and represents a strategic continuation of SIGA’s growing institutional engagement in the country.

In October 2024, SIGA LATIN AMERICA entered into a landmark agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, represented by the Department of Prizes and Betting, aimed at enhancing information sharing, monitoring betting systems and identifying suspicious activities. On 26 March 2025, SIGA also formalised a high-level agreement with Brazil’s Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) to align strategic efforts for corporate transparency and anti-corruption in Sport. These coordinated efforts place SIGA at the centre of Brazil’s national integrity agenda and demonstrate its ability to convene key institutional actors around a shared reform-oriented vision.

Agreement with the Ministry of Sport includes:

Technical capacity-building through joint workshops and training;
Exchange of information and intelligence related to sports betting manipulation;
Support for the adoption and implementation of SIGA’s Universal Standards on Sport Integrity;
Promotion of collaborative governance frameworks, both nationally and internationally.

Following the agreement, SIGA chairman Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, declared: “This new cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Sport is another significant milestone for Brazil Sport and for our global alliance. Integrity is not optional – it is a necessity for sport to thrive. There is no integrity if Sport isn’t able to prevent and tackle match-fixing and irregular and unlawful betting. Sports betting integrity is a pillar for the healthy and sustainable development of the entire sports sector. SIGA is fully committed to supporting the Brazilian authorities, regulators, and sports stakeholders by sharing know-how and expertise and building a resilient, credible, and transparent ecosystem.”

With André Fufuca (Brazil Sports Minister), adding: “This signature marks a milestone in the fight against match-fixing in Brazilian sport. Integrity must be a constant principle when it comes to transparency, ethics, and, above all, the fairness of sporting outcomes. With these agreements, we will have more than enough tools to curb this practice and ensure greater transparency in competitions. This way, athletes, clubs, organizations, fans, and the general public will be able to fully trust the fairness of results and, in turn, have peace of mind to help unlock the full potential of Brazilian sport.”
