Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol: what are the other fights?
As big-time boxing returns to Las Vegas with Canelo vs Bivol, we take a look at the undercard fights that will take place in the run-up to the main event.
Las Vegas will see big time boxing return this Saturday as pound-for-pound king and biggest active superstar Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez takes to the ring for his first bout since uniting the Super Middleweight titles with a comprehensive knockout of Caleb Plant in December. He will face WBA super light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, who comes into the fight at 19-0 and will be looking to continue his run.
The undercard holds a few tasty fights as well, so the evening is shaping up to be a true Vegas winner. The main card will get underway at 8 p.m. eastern with the main event expected to ringwalk around 11 p.m. eastern.
Earlier this week, Filip Hrgovic pulled out of his IBF eliminator bout with Zhilei Zhang for the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk. His father reportedly passed away last week and he was replaced at short notice by Scott Alexander.
In the Junior Welterweight division, southpaw Montana Love will square off against Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela. Love has shown power over his past two fights that has been surprising and Valenzuela has won 15 straight.
Former Team USA middleweight Alexis Espino is a strong favorite in his bout with Mexican fighter Aaron Silva who comes into the fight no slouch at 9-0 with six knockouts.
