Canelo bets $500,000 on Usyk: “When I see someone with that level of concentration, I back him”

Half a million dollars is the bet that the Mexican fighter has wagered on this weekend’s fight between Oleksandr Usyk (23-0-0, 14 KO) and Daniel Dubois (22-2-0, 21 KO) at Wembley Stadium.

“Over the past five years, Usyk has beaten the best. Oleksandr has very strong stamina; he’s very technical and intelligent. When I see someone with that level of focus, I back him. That’s why I made a big bet on him to win. Oleksandr, be yourself!” the Mexican wrote on his X account, backing the man from Simferopol.

The Ukrainian is, without a doubt, one of the best boxers in the world. He took away the unbeaten record from the seemingly invincible giant Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs), thus unifying the heavyweight championship for the first time in the history of the four-federation era (WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF).

He also ended the streak of Anthony Joshua (28-4-0, 25 KOs). He was voted the best by the legendary magazine The Ring and is number one in the pound-for-pound rankings.

He currently holds three of the crowns (WBC, WBA, and WBO), while Dubois holds the IBF title. The two boxers have already faced each other, and Usyk came out with his hand raised, although not without controversy. A low blow, which caused confusion, signaled the fight. The referee ruled it illegal, allowing the Ukrainian to recover and ultimately win by knockout in the ninth round.
