Carlos Alcaraz loses a high-profile follower after Australian Open completes career Grand Slam
Former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero unfollowed Alcaraz on social media, highlighting tensions after their split last December.

Juan Carlos Ferrero has unfollowed Carlos Alcaraz on social media following the Spaniard’s victory at the Australian Open, a move that underscores how fractured their relationship has become.
The decision comes just weeks after Alcaraz and Ferrero formally ended their coaching partnership in December. Now, the online snub has made it clear that the distance between player and former coach has only grown since their split.

Alcaraz snubs Ferrero in Australia
Ferrero’s unfollow came after Alcaraz capped his career Grand Slam with the title in Melbourne. In his post-match speeches, Alcaraz warmly thanked his current team and head coach Samuel López, but notably made no reference to Ferrero.
That omission did not go unnoticed. Ferrero coached Alcaraz from his early professional breakthrough and was instrumental in guiding him to the vast majority of his biggest achievements on tour. For many observers, the lack of acknowledgment felt pointed.
Toni Nadal weighs in
The situation also drew public reaction from Toni Nadal, the uncle and former coach of Rafael Nadal. Nadal criticized Alcaraz for failing to mention Ferrero in his words of thanks, suggesting that past contributions should still be recognized even after a professional breakup.
Juan Carlos Ferrero switches sport
For now, Ferrero appears focused on moving forward. He has taken on a new role as coach to Spanish golfer Ángel Ayora, aiming to replicate on the fairways the success he once helped Alcaraz achieve on the tennis court.
While Alcaraz continues to build his legacy at the top of men’s tennis, the quiet unfollow serves as a telling sign that one of the sport’s most successful recent partnerships has ended on far from friendly terms.
