Davis or Garcia? Hearn predicts the winner

One of the biggest fights in 2023 is getting closer and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given his opinion on which fighter will get his hand raised in April.

One of the biggest fights in 2023 is getting closer and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given his opinion on which fighter will get his hand raised in April.

2023 is a very promising year for boxing fans. Quite a few top battles will be taking place in the upcoming months and the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting and long-awaited ones.

The two young and undefeated talents will finally settle their rivalry in the ring on April 22 at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas.

Both fighters have been trading shots on social media and in interviews and seem confident of having the skills to take each other out.

Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) is the more experienced fighter and has faced better opposition so far, while Garcia (23-0-19KOs) has been looking better every time he has stepped into the ring, showing razor-sharp speed and power.

Davis defeated Hector Luis Garcia on January 7 in a fight that was seen as a tune-up, while KingRy preferred to keep training until facing the Baltimore native.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia: Hearn picks the winner

As many boxing pundits and fans, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed which fighter will come out on top in April.

Hearn had previously sided with Davis to defeat Garcia due to his experience and his impressive performances during his career, but he seems to have changed his mind and is backing the 24-year-old Garcia to beat Davis.

“Ryan’s resume is quite weak in general, and Tank, I think, has been in harder fights against better opposition on the bigger stages. But the one thing I will say is, I’m quite surprised that the people in boxing that know them well give Ryan a fantastic chance in the fight”, Hearn said to ES News.

“People like Devin [Haney] and Shakur [Stevenson], they rate Ryan Garcia, so he’s obviously a tremendous fighter. I’m going to go with Ryan Garcia. I’m going to switch my pick,” he added.

Truth is that despite Davis’ huge KO rate, he hasn’t looked unbeatable in his most recent fights against Hector Luis Garcia, Rolly Romero, and Isaac Cruz.

They landed some power punches on Davis’ chin until he managed to figure them out and defeat them. But the question here is if Gervonta will be able to deal with Garcia’s speed and power before he finds the right moment to put his rival in serious trouble.
