The man behind one of golf’s most recognizable voices leaves a silence the sport will never quite fill.

Goodbye to the voice of golf: Bob Bubka will long be remembered by fans

It wasn’t just the voice – though that unmistakable New York drawl could stop you mid-scroll. Bob Bubka knew golf like few ever have and delivered it with a style and heart that made him one of the sport’s most trusted narrators.
RIP Bob Bubka
His broadcasting story began in 1964 calling high school football games, but golf was his great love. From falling for Jack Nicklaus at the ’86 Masters to gaining Tiger Woods’ respect, Bob lived the game.
Bob Bubka and his wife covered the majors for various radio outlets for decades. He’d ask the questions and she would hold the tape recorder. R.I.P. https://t.co/JiMQBhfeJP

He became a PGA Tour fixture, a talkSPORT legend from 1999, and the man listeners woke up with during majors. Even as illness took hold, his voice remained strong, his presence constant.
Bob wasn’t just a commentator. He was a character, a friend to icons, and the voice that made golf feel personal.
He has said his final goodbye – but his voice will stay with us for a long time to come. Here he is a few years ago...
