It wasn’t just the voice – though that unmistakable New York drawl could stop you mid-scroll. Bob Bubka knew golf like few ever have and delivered it with a style and heart that made him one of the sport’s most trusted narrators.

His broadcasting story began in 1964 calling high school football games, but golf was his great love. From falling for Jack Nicklaus at the ’86 Masters to gaining Tiger Woods’ respect, Bob lived the game.

He became a PGA Tour fixture, a talkSPORT legend from 1999, and the man listeners woke up with during majors. Even as illness took hold, his voice remained strong, his presence constant.

Bob wasn’t just a commentator. He was a character, a friend to icons, and the voice that made golf feel personal.

He has said his final goodbye – but his voice will stay with us for a long time to come. Here he is a few years ago...
