A tennis legend has retired. On Thursday 15 September, Roger Federer announced his retirement from tennis. Federer has been playing tennis professionally since 1998. In a total of 24 years, he has won 20 Grand Slams and more than 100 titles, stats that very few can boast of having achieved. Federer is number two for total prize earnings in the world of tennis.

Federer has accumulated a total of approximately €130 million in prize money, an astronomical figure that demonstrates his number of achievements. He is just €1 million below Rafa Nadal, who, at the moment, has €131 million in prize money.

Federer’s sponsorship deals

But it is not only in prize money that he has made his fortune. The Swiss athlete has several sponsorship deals that have helped him grow his portfolio. The most prominent, according to Forbes, is the contract he signed in 2018 with Uniqlo. Federer secured a total of €300 million over a 10-year period. He has a net worth of around €500 million.
