“It’ll explode” – Topuria sends Oliveira warning ahead of UFC 317

After a dominant run at featherweight, Ilia Topuria sets his sights on the lightweight crown.

Fresh off the back of UFC 316, the Spanish-Georgian star is already deep in preparation for the next big event: UFC 317, set for June 29, where he’ll headline the main card against Brazilian veteran Charles Oliveira in a bid to become lightweight champion.

In recent hours, the UFC has released a promo video hyping the highly anticipated clash between Topuria and Oliveira. The clip features highlights from both fighters’ most iconic moments in the Octagon, backed by voiceover from a confident Topuria, already a former featherweight king and now ready for the next chapter.

“I represent the new generation of mixed martial arts. I’m the best fighter in the world. Now it’s time to become the lightweight world champion. I want that belt – this is my year.”

The video includes footage of Topuria defeating Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, and offers a glimpse into what he expects will happen when he steps into the cage with Oliveira. “I feel so powerful at 155 pounds that when I touch Oliveira’s chin, it’ll explode,” he says.

Topuria, known as ‘El Matador’, is on a mission to extend his reign – this time, as the new lightweight king.
