McGregor is running out of patience: the Irishman is looking for an opponent
The fighter’s return to the octagon keeps being delayed and the UFC star is looking for new options for his return to competition.
Conor McGregor keeps waiting for an opponent. It seemed that the return of one of the biggest UFC and MMA personalities would take place at the UFC 300 main event against Michael Chandler in April. However, that fight isn’t expected to happen for now.
“I’m waiting. I’m waiting and I’m waiting. My patience is wearing thin on me waiting”, McGregor said in Saudi Arabia before the main event between Anthony Joshua and Otto Wallin.
Since his serious injury in the summer of 2021 during his second fight against Dustin Poirier, when he broke his left leg’s lower tibia, he has been waiting for a rival and working on his comeback.
However, the reality is that two and a half years have passed since that fight against The Diamond and the Irishman wants to get back to the octagon, where he became one of the best fighters in the world.
2024: the return of McGregor
The new year will see the return of McGregor, but for the time being, he won’t fight anyone in April, as was first expected, something that his coach John Kavanagh also confirmed: “We were hoping for April. That was the hope. That was what we were told. And now it seems to be the summertime”.
In his desperation to come back into the octagon, McGregor has found a new fighting opportunity that would attract the attention of the fans to come back in style.
“How about me versus Manny Pacquiao here in Saudi Arabia? How does that sound to you?”, he said to Dereck Chisora. “Now wouldn’t you think Manny should have to come up to my weight considering it’s his sport? He already owes me 8 million, via court of law, because he was signed to my management company, and then didn’t honor his deal”, added McGregor, who is looking for a fight while the UFC remains silent.
