McGregor’s comeback is near: Irish fighter surprises everyone with this viral post on social networks
The former UFC champ says he’s taken a huge step toward making a potential return to the Octagon after years of delays.

Conor McGregor has taken a major step toward his long-awaited return to the UFC. The Irish fighter shared a video on social media revealing that he’s back in the league’s anti-doping testing pool, a requirement for any fighter looking to compete again.
Connor McGregor makes UFC revalation
“I gave my first blood test, that’s what the plaster is on my shoulder. I am ECSTATIC! I’m in SHAPE!” posted McGregor seen in an accompanying video sporting a wild new look with a tall mohawk, a long beard, and a blue bathing suit. He proudly pointed to his left arm before breaking into shadowboxing for the camera.

McGregor’s long, complex road back to the Octagon
McGregor’s road back to the Octagon has been anything but smooth. He’s spent months on the sidelines, his name appearing more in headlines for out-of-the-Octagon controversies than for fight news. But his return now looks more real than it has in years.
To compete in the UFC, all fighters must undergo regular testing under the league’s anti-doping program to ensure they’re clean. That became the first major hurdle for McGregor, who exited the testing pool following his brutal leg injury—a broken tibia suffered during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in 2021.
Rumors and false starts cause McGregor skepticism
Multiple comeback rumors have swirled since then. Fights were teased, announcements made, only to fall apart—most recently after McGregor broke the pinky toe on his left foot. After so many false starts, few fans believe he’s truly back until he’s standing inside the cage and the opening bell rings.
For now, he says the wheels are in motion. But McGregor has been saying that for the better part of two years. Until UFC president Dana White makes it official—and even then—it’ll remain a wait-and-see.
