Mick Foley, pro wrestler, explains why he’s leaving the WWE: “the final straw for me”
The WWE legend has parted ways with the wrestling body, citing opposing positions on their pro-Trump stance.

We already loved Mick Foley. From Cactus Jack to Mankind and through to Dude Love, his presence in the world of elite wrestling changed what we the superstars could be, even when we were terrified of him and Mr. Socko.
With 3 world championships, 11 (eleven) tag-team belts, and that Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker, "The Hardcore Legend" really did earn his nickname over the years.
But when I found out what he said about Donald Trump, and why he is leaving the WWE, my love for Mick Foley only grew.
Donald Trump went on a social media rampage against director Rob Reiner, who was tragically recently found dead in his home along with his wife, with a knife attack the purported cause. The president’s sick, distasteful, and callous message about the director, saying “he was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump,” caused outrage across the world.
“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion”
And now Mick Foley has had his say. Trump has had a close, intertwined relationship with WWE for a long time, especially with former CEO Vince McMahon.
Linda McMahon, Vince McMahon’s wife, is now Trump’s education secretary. As well as that, former World Heavyweight Champion Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who is the McMahons’ son-in-law and current chief content officer of the company, has also been pictured at the White House alongside Trump.
Given the ongoing relationship between the two, writing on Instagram, Foley said:
“While I have been concerned about WWE‘s close relationship with Donald Trump for several months — especially in light of his administration’s ongoing cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants (and pretty much anyone who “looks like an immigrant”) — reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me.
“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy. Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.
Additionally, I will not be signing a new Legends deal when my current one expires in June. I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, “I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.”
