NNormal says its shoes can survive 681 miles. Now it wants you to prove it in 10 days.
The brand has released a durability study for the Kjerag 02, which it says has an average lifespan of 1,096 kilometers (681 miles).

NNormal, the brand founded by Camper and trail-running legend Kilian Jornet in 2022, has unveiled the results of a durability study on its Kjerag 02 trail shoe. The company says the model has an average lifespan of 1,096 kilometers (681 miles) and is now looking for runners willing to put that claim to the ultimate test.
A total of 172 testers evaluated the shoe under real-world conditions. The study combined runner surveys, photographic analysis of wear patterns, and a statistical regression model validated by IESE University to estimate when the shoe reaches the end of its usable life.
“We analyzed the Kjerag 02 using a rigorous approach that combined feedback from 172 testers, visual analysis, and statistical modeling,” said NNormal CEO Sito Luis Salas. “Now we want to compare those results with a real-world test that is open and transparent.”
The findings place the average lifespan of the Kjerag 02 at 1,096 kilometers (681 miles), reinforcing the shoe’s reputation as a long-distance performer capable of maintaining its characteristics over hundreds of miles.
The ultimate distance test
To validate the study, NNormal is launching a global challenge: complete 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) in just 10 days using a single pair of Kjerag 02 shoes.
The company is inviting either an individual runner or a team of up to three people to design and complete their own challenge. Mountain traverses, relay formats, and personal ultra-distance projects are all welcome, provided participants cover the full 1,000 kilometers with the same pair of shoes.
Those selected will receive a pair of Kjerag 02 shoes, a full NNormal outfit, a GoPro to document the experience, and €1,000 (about $1,150) to support production of the project. The challenge will be shared in real time through the brand’s channels.
The initiative reflects NNormal’s philosophy of “Replace Less. Do More.” The company argues that extending the lifespan of sports equipment reduces consumption, waste, and emissions. Previous durability studies by the brand examined the Tomir 02 and the original Kjerag, with NNormal making durability and repairability central pillars of its sustainability strategy.
