Patrick Cantlay wins the 2022 BMW Championship - Who advances to the Tour Championship?
The 2022 BMW Championship is done, and PGA golfers are now setting their sights on the Tour Championship. Who are moving on to the final level?

Patrick Cantlay made history over the weekend by becoming the first player to have back-to-back victories at the BMW Championships since the FedEx Cup was launched in 2007. He is also the only golfer who has been able to defend a FedEx Cup Playoffs tournament.

He managed a one stroke victory over Scott Stallings, who had to settle for second place. Despite the defeat, Stallings did manage to jump up the rankings and secure a seat at the Tour Championship, the first time he has done so after being with the Tour for 12 years.

Scottie Scheffler remains top seed
The win wasn’t enough to make Cantlay the number one seed as the Tour heads into the FedEx Cup championship next week in Atlanta, but he does start out in second place. He is two strokes behind Scottie Scheffler, who tied for third at Wilmington Country Club.
Scottie Scheffler now has nine top-5 finishes on the wraparound season. On-course earnings now around $14 million, a record, with FedEx bonus still to come. And the man still drives a beat-up old whip with 170,000 miles on it.

Cantlay is now in a solid position to aim for a Tour Championship for the second consecutive year, a feat which no player has ever done.
Out of the 68 players who played for the BMW Championship at Wilmington, the 30 with the most points will advance to the Tour finale to play for the $18 million winner’s purse.
