Patrick Reed follows Brooks Koepka and leaves LIV Golf: When will he be able to play on the PGA Tour?
The 2018 Masters champion is returning to PGA Tour events in 2026, leaving behind his stint with LIV Golf.

Only weeks after Brooks Koepka announced he was leaving LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed tour has suffered another major departure with the exit of Patrick Reed.
Date set for Reed’s PGA Tour return
In a lengthy post on X, the 2018 Masters champion said he would be returning to the PGA Tour “as a past champion member for the 2027 season,” although he will be eligible to compete in PGA Tour events “later this year.”
After careful thought and consideration, my family and I have decided that I will no longer compete on the LIV Golf Tour.

The PGA Tour confirmed Reed could return to the circuit starting August 25, two days before the season-ending Tour Championship begins. While he won’t be able to qualify for the championship, Reed can compete in the eight FedEx Cup Fall events between September and November.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old revealed his intention to continue competing on Europe’s DP World Tour, where he holds Honorary Lifetime Member status. Just last week, Reed won the Dubai Desert Classic, his fourth DP World Tour victory.
Why Reed is leaving LIV
Reed explained his decision was rooted in being “a traditionalist at heart,” adding that he was “born to play on the PGA Tour.”
Patrick Reed’s LIV Golf journey
The Texan joined LIV Golf on June 11, 2022, with his resignation from the PGA Tour confirmed a little over two weeks later. During his time with LIV, Reed played on the 4Aces GC team, captained by Dustin Johnson. The nine-time PGA Tour winner recorded a single LIV Golf League victory, triumphing at LIV Golf Dallas in June 2025.
Reed leaves LIV as the tour’s ninth highest career money leader, earning $37,489,509 as of August 2025. Spain’s Jon Rahm leads with $74,976,946.
Outside the majors, Reed last played a PGA Tour event in June 2022, finishing in a tie for 53rd at the Memorial Tournament.
