Ryan Garcia (23-0-0, 19 KO) can’t wait to take on Gervonta Davis (28-0-0, 26 KO). The boxer of Mexican descent followed the bout between Tank and Héctor Luis García (16-1-0, 10 KOs), and commented on social networks about his desire to face him in April.

“Let’s not talk anymore, let’s do it. April 15,” shared King Ry on Twitter. Both fighters have been arguing on social networks for some time, and the time for them to see each other in the ring is getting closer. “Goodbye Tank, it’s over for you,” Garcia said after the Davis-García clash on Saturday.

Ryan Garcia and Davis are tentatively scheduled to meet on April 15, 2023 in Las Vegas. King Ry called for the match on several occasions, showing that he wanted to face Davis, and in November 2022 the promoters DAZN and Showtime reportedly reached an agreement for the match to take place.

Fighting Davis is Ryan’s priority

García is so excited about this fight that he gave up the fight with Filipino fighter Mercito Gesta (33-3-3, 17 KO) on January 28 to fully focus on Davis.

“I’ve been thinking about it since the fight came up and I feel like the fans and everyone who supports boxing has seen these warm up fights and it’s about time we give them what they want,” he shared on Twitter. He said that he didn’t need any tune up fights like Tank.

Davis won by TKO over Hector Luis Garcia at the Capital One Arena in Washington early Saturday morning. The Dominican didn’t come out in the ninth round and lost his unbeaten record.

Davis charged with domestic violence

Tank had been embroiled in controversy before the fight. Davis was arrested at the end of the year for domestic violence with assault and bodily harm, and was released on $1,000 bail. He defended himself against these accusations with an Instagram post, which he later deleted, where he explained that “he had never laid his hands on his daughter’s mother” and that it was all a campaign by some media to discredit him and get money.

But this is not the only controversy that the Baltimore man has starred in. A trial is pending on February 16 for his involvement in a hit-and-run at the end of 2020, where four people were injured and he faces 14 charges. If Davis is able to overcome his legal battles, then Ryan Garcia may finally have his long-awaited fight in April.
