Update:

São Paulo will host the first Latin American edition of the SIGAWomen Summit on Female Leadership in Sport, scheduled for May 12 at the offices of law firm Pinheiro Neto Advogados. The event marks a significant milestone in SIGA’s efforts to promote gender equity and female leadership in global sport, and reflects the expanding influence of SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s regional initiatives.

Organised with the support of a local committee including Christina Massis of FC Youth Women’s Football Division and Flávia Arantes de Nascimento of the Pequeno Príncipe Hospital, the summit follows the successful launch of the Brazil Chapter last November.

Integrity, governance and commercial growth of women’s sport

The event will gather international leaders and pioneers to discuss integrity, governance and the commercial growth of women’s sport. Topics will include preparations for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The summit also coincides with the latest round of SIGA’s Global Mentorship Programme, which has confirmed 40 mentors and attracted applicants from across Latin America.

Following previous editions in New York, the summit series will make a stop in Dubai on April 8 before arriving in São Paulo.

Katie Simmonds, Global Chief Commercial Officer and Chair of the SIGAWomen Council, said:

“I’ve said it once and I will say it again – the SIGAWomen global movement is growing with more participants and partners coming on board. Each continent whilst united in similar challenges in the field of gender equity, has its own nuances so it is fitting and timely that our next stop is Brazil - a country where SIGA has successfully laid foundations with our LATIN AMERICAN subsidiary, headquartered in Sao Paulo and home to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. I look forward to convening our strong community of global mentors in Brazil and call on other partners like Pinheiro Neto Advogados to champion the cause.”

Fernando Meira, Managing Partner, Pinheiro Neto Advogados, explained his firm’s commitment to promoting female leadership in sport:

“It will be a great pleasure to host the Annual SIGA Summit 2025, a leading event on female leadership in sport. This gathering is a unique opportunity to bring together leaders who are driving transformation, with the goal of building a more just and equal society. At Pinheiro Neto Advogados, we believe in the power of sport as a catalyst for meaningful and inspiring change in favor of diversity.”
