“Sometimes, my power even scares me. My opponents have families and loved ones, and I know I can hurt you”
Alex Pereira faces Russia’s Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, next Saturday.

Alex Pereira is back in the octagon in Las Vegas this Saturday as he faces Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev as part of UFC 313 with the São Paulo born fighter looking to defend his light heavyweight title belt.
His opponent, the 32-year-old Russian will be fighting for the first time ever during Ramadan with the Dagestan native stating:
‘During Ramadan, Muslims are obliged to fast, and Alex knows that. He thinks he has a chance of beating me, but I think I will prove him wrong. This challenge makes us stronger and the results will be in my favour. Of course fighting during Ramadan is a problem, but there were no other options. It was an opportunity and we took it,’ Ankalaev revealed in a UFC interview.
Brazil’s Pereira is the ninth fighter in UFC history to become champion in two different weight divisions and the first to become champion in both the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions of the organization with Pereira regarded as one of the greatest combat athletes of all time.
Saturday’s fight is set to be Pereira’s fourth title defense with the veteran fighter recently claiming as part of an interview with UFC.com: “sometimes my power even scares me. “I know my opponents choose to fight of their own free will. But they have families and loved ones, and I know I can hurt you.”
