Update:

She was a crowd favorite in the 80s and 90s competing at the highest level against Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova at the French Open, Wimbledon, Australia Open and finally winning at the 1990 US Open. Her career lasted approximately 10 years when she was forced to retire in 1996 due to injuries after having spent 508 consecutive weeks on the world’s top-10. To this day it is the fourth-longest steak in WTA-tour history.

In 2006 Sabatini was inducted in the International Tennis Hall of Fame and in her native Argentina, a country that loves its sports stars, she doesn’t quite share the level of fame that Maradona and Messi have, but there is a statue of her in Buenos Aires and a doll was created based on her likeness in tennis attire in the 90s.

The former tennis star has started a new sport later in life and can now be seen on the roads in Europe cycling around Switzerland, Italy and even in Slovenia. Her Instagram account is full of pics on the bike and she has even trained with the Argentinian Paralympic cyclists.
