Usyk, king of the world: how it happened

Update:

Oleksandr Usyk (24-0-0, 15 KOs) proved once again that he has no equal, becoming an undisputed champion for the third time. He had already done it once at cruiserweight, and then made history by unifying the heavyweight titles in the four-belt era—twice defeating a legend like Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).

Daniel Dubois was the latest to stand in his way, but Usyk knocked him out for the second time, this time in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, to unify the heavyweight division once more.

Dubois came out aggressively, trying to land shots to the Ukrainian’s face and trap him against the ropes. But Usyk, ever elusive, evaded the early attacks with sharp head movement and footwork.

In the second round, the exchanges began in earnest. Usyk kept his distance with a stiff jab and slick movement, though the Briton managed to land a heavy combination to Usyk’s head—one the Ukrainian absorbed without flinching.

Dubois kept pressing forward, but Usyk answered with two clean left hands that snapped the Briton’s head back. Dubois broke through with a hook, but Usyk countered quickly. Just like in their first encounter, Dubois landed a low blow near the end of the fourth round. In the fifth, Usyk didn’t waste any time. In an exchange at the center of the ring, he landed a powerful left hand that dropped Dubois to the canvas.

Already widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Usyk once again left the ring with all four belts, victorious in front of a packed Wembley Stadium. After the win, he hinted at a trilogy with Tyson Fury—who recently announced a return to the ring in 2026—or potential bouts with Anthony Joshua or Joseph Parker.
