What is Jermell Charlo’s professional record? WIns, losses, KOs, titles...
The American will be looking to make history when he steps into the ring with Canelo Álvarez at T-Mobile Arena.
The time of truth has come for Jermell Charlo. The Louisiana native will face the hardest opponent of his career in Las Vegas, as he will go head-to-head with Canelo Álvarez.
It will be a night to remember for Mell, may he win or taste defeat. If he manages to pull off the upset, he will go down in the history books as the second fighter to become the undisputed champion in two different weight divisions (light middleweight and super middleweight).
But in case he doesn’t have his hand raised at T-Mobile Arena, he will also be a winner in terms of popularity and money, as Álvarez is one of the most charismatic boxers and many consider him the face of boxing.
Jermell Charlo’s record
Jermell, who ended up replacing his twin brother Jermall to fight Canelo, is probably in the best moment of his career. At 32, he has proven to be one of the fiercest fighters in boxing with his aggressive style and untameable personality.
With a record of 35 wins (19 KOs), one loss, and one draw, Iron Man went unbeaten in his first 31 fights, becoming one of boxing’s biggest sensations alongside his brother Jermall due to his solid performances.
His first and only loss took place in December 2018, when he faced Tony Harrison at Barclays Center, in New York City. He was outpointed by his opponent, losing the WBC light middleweight title.
However, he was able to avenge that loss one year later at Toyota Arena, Ontario, California. He learned the lesson and recorded an impressive TKO win in the 11th round, taking back the WBC belt.
Besides Harrison, the Argentinian Brian Castaño was the other fighter who became a real challenge for Charlo, as their bout in 2021 ended up in a split draw, meaning that Charlo retained his WBA, WBC, and IBF belts but a rematch was needed to see if he could take the fourth title (WBA) from Castaño or if the smaller fighter could record an upset win.
In their second fight, in May 2022, Charlo proved again that he learned from his previous mistakes and emerged victorious by knockout in the 10th round, becoming the undisputed light middleweight champion.
