What is Nadal’s record against Alcaraz? How many times have they played against each other?

The Netflix Slam will feature a rematch between two great tennis players this weekend, but the backstory of their rivalry dates back many years.

Netflix seized an opportunity to revive an exhibition match scheduled for 2023 but couldn’t ensue. The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafa Nadal will now happen on Sunday, March 3, 2024, under almost the same circumstances. However, there is something new this time- Netflix will broadcast the match live worldwide through its payment platform. The history of this match goes back quite a while.

On March 5, 2023, two of Spain’s greatest tennis players, Alcaraz and Nadal, had scheduled an exhibition match in Las Vegas. The purpose was to entertain and thrill sports enthusiasts, but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Nadal suffered an injury, and the match had to be canceled.

Rafa Nadal could not participate in ‘The Slam’ due to a grade 2 injury to the iliacus psoas in his left leg, which required surgery. This was the same area that previously caused him discomfort when he returned to the courts in 2024. Unfortunately, Alcaraz, the “Murciano,” also suffered an injury during the ATP final in Rio de Janeiro, and his recovery time meant he could not participate in the event.

On March 3, a tennis event featuring Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled to take place with the help of Netflix. This will be the fourth time the two players will face each other on the court. They first competed in Spain in 2021 at the ATP 1,000 in Madrid. Nadal won the match in two sets during the year when the young star had his breakthrough.

In the 2022 Indian Wells tournament, the second meeting between the two Spanish players took place in the semifinals. Nadal won again, but this time with less ease than in their first match, with a score of 4-6, 6-4, and 3-6. It was the first time in the 46-year history of the Masters 1,000 that two Spanish players had faced each other in a semifinal.

In 2022, two tennis players had their third and final match against each other. This time, things had changed, and the younger player, Carlos Alcaraz, had the advantage. He won the 1,000th Masters semifinal match in Madrid against Rafa, then repeated his victory in the final against Aleksandar Zverev, and won the title in the Spanish capital. In the three sets played, Alcaraz won the first and third with scores of 6-2 and 6-3, respectively, while Nadal won the second set 6-1.

The upcoming tennis match between Spanish tennis titans Nadal and Alcaraz promises to be thrilling for players and spectators. It remains to be seen if Nadal can make a strong comeback after his injury and win against his compatriot for the third time or if Alcaraz, the young player, will continue to impress and even the score in matches between each other.
