The final men’s major championship is just around the corner, with some of the best LIV players looking to emerge victorious at Royal Troon.

The year’s fourth and last men’s golf major is edging closer, with the British Open taking place on July 18-24, and the best golfers in the globe will meet in Scotland to try to chase glory, while others will hope to lift the prestigious trophy again.

The course comes back at Royal Troon Golf Club for the first time since 2016, when Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson delivered a great battle for the fans and the Swedish came out on top in his first major victory. The event has taken place there nine times since its creation.

The tournament, organized by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, is the only one of the four majors to be played outside the US.

The last man to reach glory in the prestigious competition was the American Brian Harman, finishing on 13 under at a rain-soaked Royal Liverpool.

2024 British Open: what LIV golfers will play?

While there were 13 LIV Golfers at the 2024 Masters, 16 at the PGA Championship, and 13 at the US Open, the 2024 British Open will have 17 LIV players competing for one of the most prestigious titles in the PGA Tour.

One of the main LIV names is Bryson DeChambeau. The US Open champion is one of the main favorites to lift the trophy after a solid season, where he finished sixth at The Masters and in the second spot at the PGA Championship.

But the California native won’t be alone. Other talented LIV golfers will have the chance to win the event for the first time, including two-time major winner Jon Rahm, and five-time major champion Brooks Koepka.

Stenson will also be a threat in the race for the title, as he already knows what it takes to win the tournament and will be looking to make history to repeat his 2016 feat.

Cameron Smith is another of the LIV golfers who will try to put his name in the event’s history once again, as he won the trophy in 2022. He was the best man at the Old Course at St. Andrews, with 64 shots to reach 20 under par for the week, one shot better than Cameron Young and two clear of Rory McIlroy.

Louis Oosthuizen and Phil Mickelson, who also won the event in 2010 and 2013, respectively, will compete at Royal Troon.
